Mindfulness and Inner Practices in Yin Yoga
A 5-day 30-hour Yoga Alliance registered intensive with Sarah Powers.
For Yin Yoga Teachers and Dedicated Practitioners already practicing or teaching Yin Yoga.
We consider this a Level II training. We require that you have taken Level I – Insight Yoga Teacher Training Intensive Yin/Yang Yoga & Mindfulness Meditation training or another meridian based yin yoga training (approved by Sarah) and have started a basic Mindfulness practice prior to attending this one. Sarah will not be covering all the details about meridians in yin yoga during this training, and will focus on more specifics of Mindfulness practice. For details about the Level I Insight Yoga Teacher Training Intensive offerings, please see:
This course is for Yin teachers or practitioners who want to use the Yin yoga class as a doorway for developing the subtle body and psychological realms.
If you are interested in the Warm-Hearted Awareness 6-month course (begins November 2017), you will need to complete both the Level I Insight Yoga 8 or 10 day Teacher Training and this Level II Mindfulness and Inner Practices in Yin Yoga.
Yin yoga encourages holding floor poses for long periods to enhance the Chi or energy distribution through the fascia, organs, and bones. Restoring the flow of Chi within us has a direct impact on our psychological states, encouraging increased ease of being, a foundation for authentic meditation to occur. After we have established a clear understanding of how and why to practice Yin yoga, we can begin to look more closely at the pranic and mind training aspect available to us while in the poses, and as a separate seated practice.
In this course, we will NOT focus on how and why to practice Yin Yoga (assuming you already know these things), INSTEAD we will explore the inner methods; various breath patterns and retentions, visualizations for the health of the organs, contemplations in the poses, as well as the foundation methods of Buddhist Mindfulness.
Each session will include a lecture, yin yoga session, seated meditation practices focusing on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, as well as interactive discussion time. Included will be handouts and suggestions for reading.
